Dream Girl & Garnet Girls

2010-2011 Pi Kappa Alpha's
Dream Girl and Garnet Girls

A Pike Tradition

Since it's beginning, women have had a large place in Pi Kappa Alpha's History. It is often rummored that Junior Founder Theron Hall Rice became a part of Pi Kappa Alpha in part due to the recruitment efforts of a woman-aquintance of the fraternity. That strong tradition contiues today at the chapter level through the Pike Dreamgirl and Garnet Girls. These women, although not members of the fraternity, are given special treatment for their help and efforts to strengthen the chapter.

What is a Dream Girl?

The Pi Kappa Alpha Dream Girl is a young lady who lives by the same high ideals by which our brotherhood lives. She best represents, and unselfishly supports, the fraternity by her efforts in promoting Pi Kappa Alpha on campus.  The number of Dream Girls chosen varies between chapters, but in the Eta Upsilon Chapter, there is only one lady selected a year to represent the chapter as their Dream Girl.

What is a Garnet Girl?

A Pi Kappa Alpha Garnet Girl is a young woman who also lives by the same high ideals of Pi Kappa Alpha.  They too unselfishly support the fraternity by their efforts in promoting Pi Kappa Alpha on campus.  These ladies go above and beyond the "average" female supporter of the fraternity and the Eta Upsilon chapter likes to recognize them for it.

The picture below shows the select few who the men of Pi Kappa Alpha Eta Upsilon Chapter have determined represent PIKE.

2010-2011 DREAM GIRL

Sarah Pagitt

sarah

Sarah Pagitt was born on March 23, 1989 in Dallas, Texas. She is majoring in English/Secondary Education at UT Arlington. She plans on teaching high school English for a few years before going back to school to earn her Masters in Education. Sarah is a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and has held numerous offices, as well as being on the Panhellenic Executive Council. Nothing will ever top the moment I was announced Dream Girl. I have never felt so special than the moment the wonderful men of PIKE sang the Dream Girl song to me. Aside from my Dream Girl formal, the many road trips I have been on from Arlington to Austin and floating the river in San Marcos have created irreplaceable memories with my guys.  I love the men of Pi Kappa Alpha and am honored to be their Dream Girl. I can’t wait for the next year and the amazing journey I will be embarking on with the best men on campus.

2010-2011 GARNET GIRLS

Alexa Silvers was born March 30th, 1990 in Wichita, KS. She is a proud member of Delta Zeta and has held numerous positions within the chapter as well as serving on the Panhellenic Executive Council. She is a junior majoring in psychology. She plans to live in South Africa for a few years before completing her Ph.D in psychology. Alexa was named a Garnet Girl in the spring of 2010.

Favorite PIKE Moment: Its very hard to choose just one moment with these amazing gentlemen, but one of my favorite times was when I floated the river with them. I had so much fun and absolutely loved spending the weekend with the PIKEs. I love the men of Pi Kappa Alpha and am so proud to be one of their Garnet Girls.

Ashley Pecoraro was born on August 24, 1990 in Dallas, TX. She has held multiple positions in Delta Zeta, as well as serving as the current Vice President of Programs. Ashley is earning her degree in Public Relations and minoring in business. Ashley was named a Garnet Girl in the spring of 2010.

Favorite Pike Moment: If I had to choose, my favorite Pike moment would probably be the toga party in Fall 2008. It was not only the first time I'd met any of the guys, but also the first party I had been to in college. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and made me feel comfortable. The Pike's are the most down to earth group of guys at UTA. I love being able to call any of the guys at anytime and know that they will be there for me.

Jasmine Elias was born October 17, 1988 in Sugar Land, TX. She is the current Recruitment Chair of Pi Beta Phi at Texas Christian University. Jasmine is working towards an Advertising and Public Relations degree and will be graduating in May of 2011. She was named Garnet Girl of Pi Kappa Alpha in the spring of 2010.

Favorite PIKE Moment: I have many PIKE moments that have made my college experience a true joy. One in particular would be a formal event that I went to not knowing anyone but my date and a few others. I was welcomed with such open arms. We joked and had a great time together. I felt as if I had known those guys for years. The men of Pi Kappa Alpha are truly genuine. I have nothing but
love for them all!

Joanna Zavala was born in Fort Worth, TX on March 19, 1990.  She currently teaches Pre-K at a Christian Preschool in Arlington, TX and is engaged to one of our brothers, John Reed.  She plans to attend UT Arlington in the Spring of 2011 to pursue a degree in Bilingual Education. She was named Garnet Girl of Pi Kappa Alpha in the spring of 2010.

Favorite PIKE moment: I enjoy every moment that I get to spend with the handsome PIKES, but my most memorable moment with the Gentlemen of Pi Kappa Alpha has to be the semiformal from fall  2008. It was the first time meeting most of the guys to whom are now some of my best friends and have made these past two years unforgettable.

Prane Arroyo was born in Manhattan, New york on April 18th, 1989. She currently attends Tarrant County Community College and will be attending UTA in the Spring of 2011 to finish her Bachelor's degree in biology. She's currently a junior working on getting her certification in dental hygeine with hopes to become an oral surgeon and open her own practice one day in the DFW area. Prane was named a Garnet Girl in the spring of 2010.

Favorite Pike Moment: My favorite pike moment is when all the new pledges come to do the "PIKE" chant with the rest of the chapter on Bid-day for the first time.
